Loos : The Unheralded Teachers

Many underestimate the educational value of a trip to the restroom alias loo a.k.a bathroom. Whether it is for the shorter, more intense purpose or for the longer more satisfying one, a trip to the loo teaches you more about life than anything else can in such a short period of time.

Education is not merely about books and knowledge, it's about learning the art of life and if you are willing to learn this you can find teachers everywhere. The loo, let me tell you, is an excellent example of a teacher many fail to recognize or are too ashamed to accept.

We often tend to hold on to things that we could do without. This possessive nature is the cause of failures in one's life. A trip to the loo however shows you how wrong this attitude is. When it comes to the loo you cannot possess for a longer time than necessary, so to let go remains the only option. The loo teaches us to get rid of the unwanted everyday, patiently. But we ignorant fools just fail to learn.

Lack of hard work is the cause of the downfall of many a talented person. Here again the loo teaches you to work hard for success. Although there are times when you may achieve your goal easily, there are times when you really have to work your guts out.

Letting go of your pee after a particularly long wait lets you experience a feeling that is incomparable If only you are willing to learn, those painful moments teach you that there is no pleasure without pain.

Can't forget discipline, can you?. The only thing that stops you from eating whatever you want and how much ever you want is the thought of the consequences the next day. There are a range of punishments for a range of wrong food habits. The loo teaches you to be disciplined and if you cannot do that, then to be ready to face the consequences of your actions. Life is much the same. But life takes 50 years to teach you what the loo does in 15 minutes or less.

Apart from these morals and everyday truths, the loo also teaches us to clean up the mess we make and to take responsibility for our actions.

Whether we choose to accept it or not, the loo remains one of our most dedicated teachers throughout our life. It is up to us to recognize its power and learn from it. It is never too late, the loo is there for you till you breathe your last.
